Opal Fingering · Stormfront
November on the coast. When fall storms roll in, full, dark. Sea and sky racing to meet land with all their fury. Waves exploding against the shore. Sea and sky, vast yet indistinguishable, as curtains of rain fall into the sea. Grey into grey.
Some colours you wear. This one draws you out, like the storm itself.
Storm Front. The full presence of a Pacific November, arriving.
On Opal, the tempest is unleashed. Grey. Deep, deepest dark. Violet pierces through. The colour of the sky as the full fury of the storm arrives. Silk, catching the light even as the storm breaks. Dark yet luminous. Charged.
Opal Fingering is a blend of 50% mulberry silk and 50% baby camel, spun to a light fingering weight. Baby camel and silk together produce a softness that has no equivalent in the range, smooth rather than springy, with a natural warmth that merino cannot replicate. The silk contributes a sheen that catches light with every movement. At 100 grams and 533 metres this is a generous skein with extraordinary hand feel – the kind of yarn that changes what you thought you knew about softness.
Dyed in small batches in Nanoose Bay, British Columbia, using acid dyes on protein fibre. Each skein is individually hand-dyed. Tonal variation between skeins is natural and part of what makes each piece unique.

Frequently asked questions
Hand wash in cool water with a gentle wool wash. Lay flat to dry, away from direct sunlight. Avoid wringing or twisting. Block gently to shape if needed.
Each skein is hand-dyed in small batches, so subtle variations in colour and saturation are part of the character of these yarns. For larger projects, we recommend purchasing skeins from the same dye lot where possible, noted on the label, or alternating between lots as you work for the most even result.

A Rare Luxury
Camel fibre is gathered from herds that roam vast, windswept landscapes, built for extremes of heat and cold. Combined with silk, it becomes a yarn as rare as the places it comes from
A Golden Glow
Camel carries its own warmth, a soft, golden undertone that colours settle into. Where yak might cool a shade, camel gives it a gentle glow, warming every colour it touches toward something rich and sun-warmed.
In the Hand
Camel is exceptionally soft, finer and gentler than most wools, with a warmth that feels almost like cashmere. Paired with silk’s smooth slip, this is a yarn that feels as luxurious as it looks.
